James Halliday Tasting Notes 2015

502 Coonawarra Yarra Valley Shiraz 2012

Deonte Wines

Rating 94

James Halliday's wine tasting note

An uncommon regional blend, deeply coloured; complex aromas, part fruit, part oak, come through on the expressive bouquet, the medium-bodied, supple and long palate filling in the details with juicy blackberry flavours, cedary French oak and fine tannins.

Joshua Elias - Tasting Group, 23-Jan-14

A water white core with hay tints and a pale rim. On the nose the wine displays notes of green apple skin, honeysuckle and acacia flower. There is a hint of sulphur that presents as candle wax. Clean and expressive. On the palate the wine has a fine entry with a broad finish. The citrus flavours are more lemony than limey with slight tangerine notes. Acidity is broad on the finish. The waxy notes will come out more as it ages. Drinking well now - with cellaring potential of 4 to 6 years.
